Files.fm Upload Form: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the upload form used for?
The Files.fm upload form helps you collect files and information from customers, colleagues or other contributors. It can be useful for print shops, photographers, agencies, schools and anyone who needs to receive files from multiple people.
How does it work?
You set up the form using the upload form configurator, then add it to your website or use it on your Files.fm profile.
People can upload files and complete the form fields without creating an account or installing an app. The files are saved in your Files.fm storage, and you receive an email notification with the upload details.
Can I use the form on my website?
You can embed the form using the code provided in the configurator. It offers JavaScript and HTML iframe options, as well as a WordPress option.
Your website platform must allow the relevant embed code. Check its instructions or contact your website administrator if you are unsure.
Can I use the form without a website?
Yes. You can use the upload form on your Files.fm profile page and share the profile with people who need to send you files.
Can I customize the form?
Yes. The configurator lets you preview changes to the form’s appearance, fields and languages. To save a customized form, Files.fm currently says you need the Form Configurator subscription together with a PRO or Team account. Check the options and pricing shown in your account before subscribing.
Can I use my own branding?
The upload form page says that, with the required plan and Form Configurator, you can customize elements such as colours, text and fields. Team accounts can also remove Files.fm branding and add a logo to emails sent to clients.
Check the configurator for the branding options available with your account.
What are the upload and storage limits?
The current upload form page lists:
-
Trial: up to 0.1 GB per submission and 1 GB of storage.
-
PRO: files up to 50 GB each.
-
Team: files up to 200 GB each.
Available storage, features and limits depend on your account and subscription. Review the current information on the upload form page before subscribing.
Can I create more than one upload form?
The available public information does not clearly confirm how many forms can be created per account. If you need separate forms for different teams or purposes, contact Files.fm support to discuss your requirements.
Is a trial available?
The upload form page describes a trial mode. Check the current trial terms in the configurator or ask support about its duration and available features.
How do I choose the form’s default language?
In the configurator, select the language you want to use as the default. You can also select additional languages that visitors may switch to, if that option is available with your setup.
Why can’t I save my form configuration?
Check whether your account has the required Form Configurator subscription and a compatible plan. The upload form page states that saving a customized form requires the configurator subscription with a PRO or Team account.
If your subscriptions are active and you still cannot save the form, contact support with your account email address and a description of the problem.
Why isn’t the form displaying correctly on my WordPress site?
-
Check that the Files.fm upload form plugin is installed and activated, if you are using the plugin.
-
Open the WordPress tab in the upload form configurator and check that you copied the provided shortcode correctly.
-
Add the shortcode to the intended page or post and publish or update it.
-
Open the page in a separate browser window and check whether the form appears.
-
If it still does not work, check your WordPress editor, theme and plugin settings, or ask your website administrator for help.
